Pink Atlas Sewing Machine

Found This At A Thrift Store

Why is it that you can easily find something that you are not looking for? I wasn't looking for a Pink Atlas Sewing Machine but I found one. I got it at a thrift store in my area. I got it because it was in great condition, it was a great price(i won't say how much, that would be bragging), it had all of it's original accessories, it was pink and I didn't have one. This particular sewing machine is a zig-zag. I don't ever use it, I display it with a couple of old Singer Sewing Machines that I have.

Although Singer is the most regonizable name in sewing machines, Atlas sewing machine is close when it came to sturdiness and reliability. Atlas household sewing machines were actually maufactured in a Japan. They were sold by Franchise Dealers throughout the U.S.A. They will most likely have the "Atlas" logo and, the Atlas Sewing Machine Center, in this case the Atlas Sewing Machine Center is, Miami.

A Few Features

According to the manual, Atlas Decorative Zig-Zag Machines cost about $299.50. It has a built-in light, great for those who have difficulty seeing; another feature is the push button forward-reverse feed mechanism, allows you to make precise, even-length stitches in either direction with a twist of the Dial and a touch of a button; has an automatic darner, deck-operated drop feed; bobbin winder are also among the features.

Accessories

oil can, ruffler, screw driver, narrow hemmer, felling foot bobbins, fiber belt, atlas needles, atlas twin needles, thumb srew for cloth guide, cloth guide, zipper foot, seam ripper, bulb.

I would enjoy reading about your sewing machine find.

Brings back memories! Back in the day, everyone I knew that sewed had a pin cushion like the one in the photo. And, those bobbins - we had some like those too. Enjoyed your hub.

I am thrilled to be the new owner of a pink atlas zigzag. It was last serviced in 2001 and never used since then. The motor is not the original, but the machine is beautiful and works awesome. I'm never using a plastic machine again!!!
